The Eucharist, the “source and summit of the Christian life” (Lumen Gentium 11), stands at the center of our redemption through Jesus Christ. Offering a Mass is a time-honored Catholic tradition that allows the faithful to unite their prayers and intentions with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, whether in thanksgiving, for a special intention, or for the repose of a soul.

The Tradition of Mass Offerings

Since the early Church, Christians have brought gifts to the Sunday assembly, particularly bread and wine for the Eucharist. Over time, monetary offerings became customary, providing material support to the Church’s ministers and enabling the faithful to have their personal intentions remembered during Mass.

Today, a Mass offering not only supports the life and ministry of priests, but also becomes a profound spiritual gesture. Each Mass is celebrated for the intention of the donor and is a powerful way to join in prayer with the Church and with the community of believers.
